There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Flag Ceremony
The Airds High School Community celebrated Flag Ceremony, a day that centres around embracing cultures and traditions from around the world. This day was full of performances, both song and dance, from countries all over the world, highlighting how diverse our school community is.
The celebrations consisted of an assembly where community members and guests were invited to attend and join in on the festivities. Some of the highlights of the assembly were the performances from the Aboriginal and Pacifica students. During the assembly, both students and staff represented a different country's flag, which highlighted the true diversity of not only the school community, but the world around us.
The fun did not stop with the Flag Ceremony, as during lunch time, students from different year groups and faculties were involved in selling different cuisines from a range of countries including pasta, fried rice and the classic Aussie sausage sizzle.
Overall, the Flag Ceremony and its celebrations was an amazing day for everyone involved, which once again brought forth an abundance of school spirit and community involvement, and it was great to see students from all year groups immerse themselves in their own culture and the cultures and traditions of their peers and school community.
Year 10 Graduation
Year 10 Graduation marks a significant moment in each student’s learning pathway. We celebrate your dedication, perseverance and contributions to our school community. As you transition into senior studies, we are confident you will continue to demonstrate responsibility, maturity and commitment to success.
NAIDOC Week
Throughout the week, students engaged in a range of meaningful activities that honoured the rich histories, cultures, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This week's highlights included traditional dance performances, community members, and creative art workshops focused on legacy and cultural identity.
Airds High School engaged in a range of activities everyday, from Stories on the Big Screen with English, to creative outlets with CAPA, games with NASCA and Clontarf, NAIDOC assembly and community lunches.
The school community reflected on the strength and vision of First Nations peoples, while empowering students to become future leaders who carry that legacy forward. Airds High remains committed to reconciliation, respect, and celebrating the enduring contributions of Australia's First Peoples.
